Mythdyke, composed of Jams, Isabelle, Roz, and Tananna, work collaboratively through performance, folklore, ritual, the archive, and embodied research. Their practice centres around re-living and reimagining traditional and forgotten histories, myths, and places through a contemporary queer lens.
The name Mythdyke itself acts as both reclamation and protection. Drawing upon the historically weaponised slur “dyke”, the collective reclaim the word as a queer maternal force: protective, grounding, and sheltering. For the artists, “dyke” embodies a masc-feminine energy central to their collective identity while also functioning as a metaphorical structure that holds and directs the floodwaters of myth, legend, memory, and lore. Mythdyke works to keep these rivers flowing, carrying forgotten stories back into contemporary consciousness.
Mythdyke invites audiences into worlds of reclamation and reimagination where forgotten stories are gathered, carried, and returned to the present, invoking joy and a deeper presence to life itself.
